I think I’m equal parts impressed, dismayed, and terrified that this word actually exists.

The propreantepenultimate is…

the thing before the penultimate thing, which is…
the thing before the ultimate thing, which is…
the last thing.

So it’s the thing before the thing before the thing before the thing before the last thing.

Or, if we go to prefixes, the before-before-before-almost-last thing, with Greek, Latin, Latin/Greek, and Latin prefixes, respectively. For some reason they decided that four prefixes meaning “before” were enough to tack onto the beginning of a word meaning “last”.
